The early parts of the video are fairly poor quality (after all it is nearly 25 years old before digital was thought of!!) It started from when Dominic was around 8 years old but soon improves and goes
up to the year 2000. Lasting around 7 minutes, the 117 (mostly ippon) throws come every few seconds and serve to show that Dominic can not only "talk the talk" as do many coaches
but he can also "walk the walk" so when he teaches a technique
and tell you it works, you'd better believe him!!
Read Dominic's own account of his journey through his Judo career (up to 2005). It will make interesting reading for anybody starting out in Judo or anybody that may think
BJA Club Instructor Claire King
Claire King joins the coaching team of Fighting Fit Judo Club. Claire first met Dominic on the judo mat (where else!!) over thirteen years ago and has reached quite a high level in her own right. She has won National medals as a Junior, Cadet and Senior, been a member of the National squad and competed abroad as a Senior International. Although Claire now has her hands full holding down a part-time job as a staff nurse, bringing up three children together with Dominic, she would like to get more involved with the judo club and possibly start introducing very young children to the sport.
